Adding a kicker to a recruiting class is not always the sexiest commitment, but Minnesota fans know as well as anyone that a kicker can mean the difference between a Rose Bowl and no bowl. The Gopher staff spent much of their camps evaluating kickers and Kip Smith of Broomfield (CO) Legacy out distanced the others to earn a coveted scholarship. Once he had the offer, it did not take Smith long to let the coaches know he wanted to be a Gopher.
