November 8, 2012Washington State's 2013 football was adjusted this afternoon with news that the previously scheduled home-and-home with BYU has been pushed back and replaced with Southern Utah.
WSU will now complete their home-and-home series against BYU in 2019 in Pullman. The Washington State athletic department, in hopes of balancing future schedules, requested the move.
"At our request BYU has agreed to move our 2013 game to the 2019 season," WSU Director of Athletics Bill Moos said. "This move will provide greater balance to our future schedules."
The Cougars' 2013 non-conference schedule, as a result, is much more friendly in terms of competiveness. Southern Utah, who beat Eastern Washington this year, is a Division-II university.
Preliminary scheduling lists the Cougars hosting Southern Utah on September 14. Washington State travels to Auburn on August 31 to open up the season and finishes out non-conference play against Idaho at home on September 21.
With the addition of Southern Utah, 2013 will mark the fourth consecutive season that Washington State will host an FCS school. The Cougars beat Eastern Washington 24-20 in week two.
