Green intrigued by Ole Miss' pitch

Ole Miss has told Ryan Green they see him as the next Dexter McCluster.

For Green, a Rivals100 running back prospect from St. Petersburg (Catholic), Fla., that sales pitch resonates.

Like Green, McCluster is a central Florida native (McCluster is from Largo), and like the former Ole Miss/current Kansas City Chiefs standout, speed is Green's calling card.

"I like his running style, the way he gets in and out of cuts," Green said. "I'm a lot bigger than him, but I think we both have explosiveness."

Green, a 5-foot-10, 195-pounder ranked as the No. 90 overall prospect nationally by Rivals.com, has offers from some 20 programs already, including Southeastern Conference programs Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.

"I'm going to see where I fit in socially, academically and athletically," Green said. "It's a lot of schools out there. I'm going to try to take a look at everybody."

Ole Miss defensive line coach Chris Kiffin is recruiting Green for the Rebels. Ole Miss, under new coach Hugh Freeze, is trying to convince top recruits to come to Oxford to be catalysts for a rebuilding process.

"I'm the type of guy who doesn't care what the record is," said Green, who rushed for 1,069 yards and 14 touchdowns as a junior. "If it's a program like that, I'll do my best to try to bring it back up."

Green doesn't yet have any set plans to visit Ole Miss. He'll visit Notre Dame next month before figuring out the rest of his offseason schedule. He has no definitive plans regarding a decision, though he's open to making one at any time.

"I have to feel comfortable," Green said. "That's the first thing."
