Mitchell Ready for PrimeTime

PLANO, Texas -- With Oklahoma recently reopening their involvement with Mike Mitchell and seemingly becoming a top choice for him , along with Ohio State and Texas A&M, took the time out last Friday night to get out and see how he looks when Plano Prestonwood Christian Academy hosted Fort Worth Nolan. Mitchell is a big-framed linebacker and looks every bit the 6-foot-4 and 216-pounds he is listed at. He is already bulked up in his upper body but still has room to add more weight. Mitchell's lower half is also well developed and already looks college ready.

Really, it's not too often you see a player the size of Mitchell as the primary kick returner but he is just that for Prestonwood and with his speed it's easy to see why. Now obviously, Mitchell won't be returning kicks in college and as such the focus of evaluation has been to see the unique athlete at his native linebacker spot. Just a few plays into Nolan's first drive, onlookers got a glimpse of the kind of ability Mitchell possesses.

Nolan's quarterback dropped back and had his eyes down field while Mitchell hesitated for a second, waiting on the whole to open and then exploded through the B-gap. Luckily for Nolan the quarterback got the ball off just a split second before Mitchell absolutely blew him up, knocking him flat on his back. Even though he was a hair late the closing speed the four-star prospect possesses is big league.

The Nation's No. 3 outside linebacker does a good job while scraping and trying to locate the ball and was a sure tackler basically the entire night. For a prospect as explosive as Mitchell, it wouldn't have been a shock to see him want to deliver big hits without wrapping up but that wasn't the case. We only saw him miss one tackle and he was in on numerous ones throughout the game.
