Evans' Wait for a Sooner Offer is Over

In the state of Texas one of the top dogs on the 5A football scene is the Allen Eagles. Last year the Eagles won the 5A Division-1 State Championship and one of the key components on that team was 2014 three-star linebacker, Tay Evans. The 6-foot-3 and 202-pound Sooner legacy put on a stellar performance in the playoffs and schools took notice. Oklahoma was one of those programs and this past spring sent offensive coordinator, Josh Heupel up to the school as well as linebackers coach Tim Kish, twice. Yet, an offer was not made.

Evans says he was still in contact with both Oklahoma coaches but it wasn't anything of real significance. That is until this past Tuesday.

"I talked to coach Heupel and coach Kish like every now and then but nothing like that (serious). Then he (Kish) messaged me on Facebook (Tuesday) and he said can I give him a call. So I called him and that's when he said he was extending an offer," Evans replied.
