Matchup: Alabama QB vs. Mississippi DB

MORE: What to watch | More all-star coverage

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The 25th Annual Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game provides a number of key match-ups between the two squads. One area where Alabama may have a big advantage is with regards to its quarterback talent and the defensive backs that will be trying to contain them from Mississippi. Here is our breakdown.

The players:

Alabama quarterbacks: Jameis Winston (Hueytown) and Jonathan Wallace (Phenix City).

Mississippi defensive backs: Cedric Jiles (Clinton), Greg Sims (Brookhaven), Jibril Cox (Meridian), Xavier Grindle (Columbia), and Adairius Barnes (Port Gibson).

The breakdown:

The top prospect participating in the game is Hueytown (Ala.) dual-threat quarterback Jameis Winston. The Florida State commitment, who is still considering Alabama and Auburn, is the No. 10 overall prospect in the nation and top dual-threat quarterback according to Rivals.com. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound five-star has a big arm and can beat you down the field throwing the ball, but his ability to tuck and run makes him very dangerous and forces defenses to respect him at the line of scrimmage. Winston, who was recently named the Gatorade Player of the Year for Alabama, completed 163-of-234 pass attempts this season for 2,424 yards and 28 touchdowns and just two interceptions. He also rushed for 1,063 yards and 15 touchdowns on 144 carries.

Winston isn't the only talented signal-caller for Alabama. He will be sharing snaps with Phenix City (Ala.) Central dual-threat quarterback Jonathan Wallace. Wallace, a three-star quarterback, is a solid commitment to Southern Miss. Similar to Winston, he can beat you with his legs just as well as he can with his arm. He accounted for more than 2,500 offensive yards on his senior season.

The Mississippi secondary will have its hands full with the Alabama quarterback duo. That group is led by a trio of Mississippi State commitments. Columbia (Miss.) East Marion running back Xavier Grindle is on the roster as a defensive back. The three-star will likely line up at safety. Beside him will be Port Gibson (Miss.) three-star athlete Adairius Barnes. Clinton (Miss.) three-star cornerback Cedric Jiles is the third pledge to the Bulldogs roaming the Magnolia State's secondary.

Joining the trio will be Brookhaven (Miss.) cornerback Greg Sims, who has been lightly recruited, and Meridian (Miss.) cornerback Jibril Cox, who is still awaiting his first offer.
