WSU 2013 Football Schedule Released

PULLMAN -- Washington State's 2013 football schedule was released by the Pac-12 today and the Cougars will open up Pac-12 play at USC after opening the season at Auburn. In somewhat of a surprise, the annual Seattle game, typically played against either of the Oregon schools, will be played on Sept. 28 against Stanford.

The Cougars will have bye's in week 9 (10/26) and week 11 (11/09). There is one Thursday game on the schedule, a Halloween contest in Pullman against Arizona State. The Apple Cup against Washington will, once again, be held on Black Friday after Thanksgiving in Seattle.

The biggest surprise, obviously, is the meeting with Stanford in the Seattle Game at CenturyLink Field. WSU Director of Athletics Bill Moos discussed the change and the importance of playing Oregon State in Pullman rather than Seattle.

"Having Oregon State return to Pullman for the first time since 2009 continues a tremendous Pacific Northwest rivalry," said Moos. "There will be many activities planned around that game, as there will be for all our home contests. For the Seattle Game, defending Rose Bowl and Pac-12 champion Stanford will be an outstanding opponent and provide another chance to fill CenturyLink Field with crimson and gray."

The Cougars' out-of-conference schedule begins with a trip to SEC country against Auburn and, after opening Pac-12 play against USC, they host Southern Utah and Idaho at Martin Stadium.

Washington State will not play UCLA or Colorado this season after missing Arizona and USC last season. The Cougars have not played USC since the conference expanded to 12 teams.
