WSU announces early additions

PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University football signed six student-athletes to a Financial Aid Agreement, Cougar Football Head Coach Mike Leach announced Wednesday.

Offensive lineman Nick Begg (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.), wide receiver Calvin Green (Sacramento, Calif.), defensive end Dylan Hanser (Billings, Mont.), offensive lineman Sean Krepsz (Riverside, Calif.) cornerback Marcellus Pippins (El Cerrito, Calif.) and safety Markell Sanders (Sammamish, Wash.) are all enrolled in classes at WSU for the spring semester, which began Monday, Jan. 13, 2014.

"This is a very good start to our 2014 signing class," said Leach. "We have added some size along with skill positions on both sides of the ball. Having them begin classes and adjust to college life, while also participating in winter conditioning and spring practices, will benefit them going forward."

Begg, a 2013 graduate of Santa Margarita High School, was high school teammates with current Cougars River Cracraft and Riley Sorenson. Begg, 6-5, 255, was rated a three star prospect by Rivals.com. After delaying enrollment at Arizona State, he elected to attend Washington State. As a senior, he earned All-West Region honors by PrepStarin 2012.

Green, a 5-10 165-pound wide receiver out of Burbank Luther High School in Sacramento, Calif, graduated in December. As a senior, Green earned MVP honors the Metropolitan Conference and was named All-CIF Sac-Joaquin Section after recording 1,701 all-purpose yards and tallying 52 tackles and two interceptions, also garnering a spot on the All-Metro first-team defense . He also tied a national high school record with a 99-yard kickoff return in his final game. Green is rated a three-star prospect by Rivals.com and the No. 71 prospect out of California by Yahoo! Sports.

Hanser graduated from Central Catholic High School in Billings, Mont. and elected to delay his enrollment at WSU until January, 2014. The 6-5, 230-pound defensive end was a two-time All-State selection both as an outside linebacker and as a tight end. As a senior in 2012, he earned all-conference and all-state honors on both sides of the ball while recording 37 tackles, 3.5 sacks and three forced fumbles.

Krepsz, a 6-5, 295-pound offensive lineman from King High School in Riverside, Calif., graduated in December. Krepsz is a three-star prospect according to Rivals.com. He was named an All-Area Inland All-Star, First Team All-Big VIII and All-CIF honorable mention as a senior.

Pippins played at El Cerritos High School in El Cerrito, Calif. where Cougars great Lamont Thompson was his position coach. Pippins graduated in spring, 2013 and elected to delay his enrollment at WSU until January, 2014. The 5-11, 175-pound defensive back earned All-East Bay First-Team honors as a junior and senior. Pippins was rated a three-start prospect by Rivals.com.

Sanders attended Eastside Catholic High School in Sammamish, Wash., graduated in spring, 2013 and delayed his enrollment at WSU until January, 2014. As a junior, he earned First Team All-Metro honors at cornerback after making 30 tackles and three interceptions. As a senior in 2012, he tallied 10 tackles and two interceptions before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury. Sanders was named a white chip prospect as one of Washington's top 100 prospects by the Seattle Times. He was rated two stars Rivals.com.
