Lions' class continues to grow
Dominique Easley on Saturday.Penn State stayed hot on the recruiting trail this weekend, netting its third verbal commitment in a week, as the coaching staff accepted an oral pledge from Staten Island (N.Y.) Curtis defensive lineman
BWI confirmed the news with Easley on Monday morning.
"[It was] education and basically Coach [Larry] Johnson and Coach [Kermit] Buggs," Easley said via text message. "But the education was the big part in my decision."
Easley took an unofficial visit to Penn State this past weekend, as the Nittany Lions rolled over Temple. He also visited once in the spring, and took in the Lions' blowout of Michigan State last season.
The 6-foot-2, 260-pound prospect is rated as a four-star strongside defensive end by Rivals.com, and checks in at No. 11 in the positional rankings. He is the top player in the Empire State, with fellow Penn State verbal commitment DaQuan Jones checking in at No. 2.
He also comes in at No. 104 in the latest edition of the Rivals250. He is one of 11 Penn State verbal commitments in the top 250.
Easley played both ways for Curtis in 2008. He earned all-city and all-borough honors, and was selected as a fourth team all-state pick following the season.
He recorded 51 tackles, 10 sacks and two fumble recoveries as a junior.
He has started out his senior season with a bang, recording 25 tackles and five sacks in just three games. He has also caught two passes for 46 yards and a touchdown. Curtis is 2-1 on the season, and will play James Madison on Saturday afternoon.
