Anderson Runs Into The Semi-Finals At USA Champs

One more step closer to the USA track team for Washington State University track and field sophomore superstar Jeshua Anderson as he moved into the semifinals of the men's 400-meter hurdles at the USA Track & Field Championships in Eugene with a 50.22 qualifying time that was second-fastest in the preliminaries.
Former Cougar men's discus hurler Ian Waltz again made the USA team, finishing third with a heave of 61.91 meters [203-1] while another former Cougar - triple jumper Blessing Ufodiama - finished seventh with a leap of 13.59 meters [44-7].

Meanwhile, Wazzu distance ace Bernard Lagat - whose specialty is the 1500 and 5000 meters - and who qualified for the semifinals in the 800 meters chose to withdraw from the semifinals after using the preliminary race to get speed work for his longer specialty races and Anderson's recently graduated men's 400-meter hurdler teammate Barry Leavitt finished 19th in the prelims with a 51.87 clocking.
Former Wazzu decathlete Rickey Moody did not finish the decathlon competition.
