Backup QB Bruggman leaves program

Depth at the quarterback position is suddenly a main concern heading
into next month's fall camp as backup Tyler Bruggman is

leaving the
Washington State football program and intends to transfer, a source told WazzuWatch.com on Saturday
night.
The Phoenix, Ariz., product was expected to battle Luke Falk, also
a redshirt freshman, this fall for the backup quarterback job behind
redshirt senior Connor Halliday.
A former four-star recruit out of Brophy Prep, Bruggman was the
headliner of the Cougars' 2013 class and according to reports, nearly
flipped to Arizona State on signing day before sticking with his
commitment.  Bruggman was rated the No. 18 pro-style quarterback
in the country and held offers from Arizona, ASU, Arkansas, BYU, Duke,
Houston, Indiana, Iowa State, Michigan State, Ole miss and several
others.
According
to a report by Bruce Feldman of FOX Sports, Washington State
will release Bruggman to Louisville, Duke, Indiana or Arkansas as a
condition of his release.
Bruggman is the second quarterback to transfer out of the program this
offseason as redshirt sophomore Austin Apodaca transferred to Mesa
(Ariz.) C.C. this spring.  With Bruggman leaving, Halliday and
true freshman Peyton Bender, a three-star recruit out of Fort
Lauderdale, Fla., are the only remaining scholarship quarterbacks on
the roster.
Falk appears to be the clear backup heading into fall camp.
Fellow redshirt freshman Connor Ennis, also a walk-on, would likely
compete with Bender for the third-string job.
UPDATE:: Bruggman confirms in a text message to WazzuWatch.com that he has decided to transfer from Washington State.
