Defense Takes A Holiday

The Washington State University men's hoop team made a living off weak opponents in the non-conference portion of their schedule but Oregon whacked the Cougars, 92-75 in their first Pac-12 game of the year held in Spokane. With the loss, the Cougars drop to 0-1 in conference play and 8-5 overall on the year.
Oregon led start-to-finish as the Ducks shot 71% in the first off against a lackadaisical Cougar defense. Wazzu was behind only 9-7 four minutes into the game but then Oregon took off and nailed the Cougars back for the remainder of the half, taking a 54-34 advantage going into the locker room at halftime.

It was more of the same in the second half as the Cougars were never able to close the gap to less than 10 points and Oregonn cruised home for an easy victory.
Three Cougars were in double figures in scoring, as Wazzu was led by DaVonte Lacy with 19 points. Reggie Moore and 14 and Brock Motum with 12 points.
NOTES:
- The Ducks' 20-point halftime lead was the largest deficit the Cougars have faced all year at the halftime break.
- Oregon out-rebounded the Cougars, 34-22, in the game.
