Fall Depth Chart: Offense

PULLMAN, Wash. | With Pac-12 Media Day in the rear view mirror and the beginning of fall camp just days away, the anticipation for football season is mounting to almost unbearable heights.

Over the next week, WazzuWatch.com will be throwing a full blitz of content towards previewing the big storylines to follow leading up to the season opener at Auburn. We begin by taking a look at the offense's pre-fall camp depth chart, as provided by Christian Caple of the Spokesman Review.

QB -- Connor Halliday, Austin Apodaca

RB -- Teondray Caldwell, Marcus Mason

WR-X -- Dominique Williams, Kristoff Williams, Vince Mayle

WR-Y -- Bobby Ratliff, Robert Lewis

LT -- Gunnar Eklund, Eduardo Middleton

LG -- Joe Dahl, John Fullington

C -- Elliot Bosch, Zach Brevick

RG -- Matt Goetz, John Fullington

RT -- Rico Forbes, Jacob Seydel

WR-H -- Brett Bartolone, Rickey Galvin

WR-Z - Gabe Marks, Isiah Myers, Vince Mayle

BREAKDOWN

At first glance, there aren't many surprises on the offensive side of the ball in comparison to the spring depth chart. As expected, Halliday is listed as the starting quarterback and I wouldn't expect that to change. However, the job is still open for the taking and it'll be a really important camp for Apodaca whether he wins the job or not.

The biggest question mark for the Washington State offense is, without a doubt, the offensive line. At left guard, third-year sophomore Joe Dahl, who began the spring at right tackle before moving to the interior line, looks to have put himself in position to earn a starting nod next to Eklund at left tackle.

Bosch has a stranglehold on the center spot while Forbes, given he can stay healthy, is expected to nail down a starting job at right tackle. The biggest position battle on the line will be at right guard where Goetz and Fullington will push each other for playing time. It'll be interesting to see the kind of progress Fullington has made in the offseason after his well-publicized struggles over the last year and a half.

It's becoming evident that depth is slowly starting to develop along the line. Touted redshirt freshman Eduardo Middleton finds himself backing up Eklund at the left tackle spot and junior college transfer Jacob Seydel provides some additional depth at the tackle spots as he moves from left tackle to right tackle to begin camp behind Forbes.

Denzel Dotson is another name that could make some noise throughout camp but he finds himself buried at the guard spots. He'll keep his name in the discussion at either guard position with Fullington.

The starting wide receiver spots remain the same from the spring with Marks, D. Williams, Bartolone and Ratliff holding down their respective positions. Incoming freshman Robert Lewis leapfrogged Bennett Bontempts at the Y-receiver and figures to see his share of balls to utilize his blazing speed in the slot.

Mayle is listed as the third string at both the X- and Z-receiver spots and will be one of the more intriguing players to watch throughout camp. There's no doubt that he has all the fundamentals to excel and with his size and great hands, he could be lethal in this system. Whether he can pick it all up immediately is the biggest question but it looks like the staff has a good problem on their hands with so much depth at the receiver spots.

It's nice to see Galvin make his way back into the two-deeps, as he had such a great fall last season before suffering yet another season ending arm injury just three games into the schedule. He provides another explosive inside presence underneath and if you give him space, he can certainly make some plays. The key for Galvin is to stay healthy, and if he does, he'll see extended playing time this season.
