K-State Rolls Cougs

The Washington State University men's basketball team rolled into Manhattan, Kansas, Saturday night and were immediately rolled out of town. The Cougars were never in the game as the Kansas State Wildcats took an early double digit lead which they built into a 20-point first half lead as they cruised to an easy 86-69 victory over the Cougars. With the loss, the Cougars drop to 6-2 overall on the year.
The Cougars were immediately put under pressure by the Wildcats' speed and quickness, suffering turnover after turnover in the first 10 minutes of the game, allowing the Wildcats to build a double digit lead that would eventually balloon out to as much as 20 points at 46-26, before the Cougars cut it down three to 46-29 going into the halftime break.

The second half was no different as the Cougars were unable to make up any significant ground on the Wildcats. The closest Wazzu could get was 15 points when sophomore guard Marcus Capers hit a lay-up less than a minute into the second half. After that, Kansas State kept the lead above 18 points for much of the remainder of the game and the Cougars never seriously threatened the Wildcats' lead.
Sophomore sensation Klay Thompson managed to score 22 points while true freshman guard Reggie Moore added 16 points as the only two Cougars finishing in double digits in scoring. The Cougars finished the game with 25 turnovers.
Wazzu will continue their 2009-10 season on December 9 at Beasley Coliseum in Pullman when they will face Idaho at 8 PM Pacific Time.
