New Mexico Pokes Cougars In The Eye

The Washington State University men's hoop team fell behind early and were never able to catch up as the led the New Mexico Lobos defeated the Cougars, 72-62 in the 76 Classic in Anaheim despite a game-high 25 points from Wazzu guard Faisal Aden. With the loss, the Cougars drop to 2-3 overall on the year.
New Mexico opened the game with a 13-2 run as the Cougars took nearly eight minutes in scoring their first field goal of the game. The Lobos eventually built up a 17-point first half lead before settling for a 36-27 advantage going into the locker room at halftime.

In the second half, New Mexico continued to build their lead and Wazzu repeatedly cur into the Lobos' lead but was never able to get New Mexico's lead to less than seven points as the Lobos held off the Cougars for the comfortable win.
Two Cougars were in double figures in scoring, led by Aden with 25 and followed by Brock Motum with 10.
