Time is ticking downward at the Creek for the basketball seasons and it appears that the official RPI release this week indicates that the conference would get six women's teams and four men's teams in the respective Big Dances with the men of Stanford just outside of the bubble.
Meanwhile, at NCAA HQ, the Football Rules Committee, as expected, endorsed the usage of the video replay system for all 11 Division I-A football conferences in the 2006 season.
Budget recommendations for the 2006-08 cycle indicate support for seeding the top 16 teams in the baseball championship tournament, reimbursing schools participating in track and field championships and increasing officials' fees at various championships amongst other recommendations.
USC
In men's hoop, the Trojans were swept by Washington and WSU to drop to 15-9 overall and 6-7 in conference play with a 105 RPI.
In women's hoop, the Women of Troy lost to Washington but defeated WSU to move to 15-9 overall and 9-6 in conference play with a 55 RPI.
Washington
Assistant coach Steven Wilks is reported to have moved on to coach in the NFL.
In men's hoop, the Huskies swept USC and UCLA to improve to 18-5 overall and 7-5 in conference play with a 39 RPI. Senior guard Brandon Roy was named as the conference's player of the week
In women's hoop, Washington beat USC but lost to UCLA to move to 16-7 overall and 9-5 in conference play with a 45 RPI.
WSU
Junior pitcher Wayne Daman, Jr. was named as the conference's pitcher of the week.
In men's hoop, the Cougars lost to UCLA but defeated USC to move to 11-10 overall and 4-8 in conference play with a 93 RPI. Junior guard Rodney Edgerson is reported to be out for the season with a back injury.
In women's hoop, WSU was swept by USC and UCLA to drop to 7-16 overall and 1-13 in conference play with a 192 RPI.
Stanford
Assistant coaches Tom Quinn and Nate Hackett have left to coach in the NFL while San Francisco 49er's assistant has returned as defensive coordinator. Defensive back Wopamo Osaisai has dropped football to concentrate on track and field.
In men's hoop, the Cardinal lost to California and Gonzaga to fall to 12-9 overall and 8-4 in conference play with a 76 RPI. Stanford received a verbal commitment from 6-5 guard Da'veed Dildy.
In women's hoop, the Cardinal defeated UC-Santa Barbara and California to improve to 18-5 overall and 12-2 in conference play with a 14 RPI.
California
In men's hoop, California defeated Stanford to improve to 15-6 overall and 9-3 in conference play with a 54 RPI.
In women's hoop, the Bears lost to Stanford to drop to 15-9 overall and 7-7 in conference play with a 64 RPI.
UCLA
Special teams and tight ends assistant coach Brian Schneider left the Bruins' staff for personal reasons and was replaced by former Colorado recruiting coordinator John Wristen.
In men's hoop, UCLA defeated WSU but lost to Washington to move to 20-5 overall and 10-3 in conference play with an 11 RPI.
In women's hoop, the Bruins swept Washington and WSU to improve to 15-9 overall and 10-5 in conference play with a 35 RPI. Junior guard Noelle Quinn was named as the conference's player of the week.
Arizona
In men's hoop, the Wildcats swept Oregon and Oregon State to improve to 15-9 overall and 8-5 in conference play with a 20 RPI. Senior guard Chris Rodgers has been reinstated to the team
In women's hoop, Arizona was swept by Oregon and Oregon State to drop to 7-18 overall and 3-12 in conference play with a 171 RPI.
Oregon
In men's hoop, the Ducks lost to Arizona but defeated Arizona State to move to 11-14 overall and 5-8 in conference play with a 172 RPI.
In women's hoop, Oregon beat Arizona but lost to Arizona State Bears to move to 14-10 overall and 5-9 in conference play with a 97 RPI.
Oregon State
The Beavers received a verbal commitment from defensive lineman Carl Sommer. Oregon State will play at Hawai'i on December 2.
In men's hoop, the Beavers were swept by Arizona and Arizona State to drop to 10-14 overall and 3-10 in conference play with a 186 RPI.
In women's hoop, Oregon State lost to Arizona State but defeated Arizona to move to 11-11 overall and 5-9 in conference play with a 98 RPI.
Arizona State
In men's hoop, the Sun Devils beat Oregon State but lost to Oregon to move to 9-13 overall and 3-10 in conference play with a 173 RPI.
In women's hoop, Arizona State swept Oregon and Oregon State to improve to 20-5 overall and 11-4 in conference play with an 11 RPI.
