The Creek was in full action mode last week as all fall sports began in earnest and the Pac-10 was already making its presence known – USC is in the top 10 in football, UCLA was in the top 10 in women's soccer and four teams – UCLA, Washington, Stanford and USC – were in the Top 10 in volleyball.

Meanwhile at NCAA HQ, an agreement was reached between the Fox Soccer Channel and the NSCAA [National Soccer Coaches Association of America] to televise several women's and men's matches this year. Among the matches scheduled to be televised are two matches involving Pac-10 teams [UCLA v. UC-Santa Barbara on October 5 and Stanford v. Washington on October 15].

Oregon State

The Beavers defeated Eastern Washington, 56-17, to move to 1-0 on the season.

In women's soccer, Oregon State defeated Northern Colorado and Alabama-Birmingham to improve to 2-1- on the year.

OSU lost to South Dakota State, Oklahoma and Wisconsin to drop to 1-5 in volleyball.

In men's hoop, point guard Brett Casey, the son of baseball head coach, Pat Casey, has elected to only baseball. The Beavers signed point guard Vojin Sivlar to a financial aid agreement after previous signee Calvin Haynes went to a prep school.

California

The 22nd-ranked Bears lost to Tennessee in their season opener, 35-18, and dropped to 0-1.

16th-ranked California defeated Kansas and tied Cal State-Fullerton to move to 3-0-1 on the year in women's soccer.

The 13th-ranked Bears beat Xavier, Oral Roberts and Florida International to remain unbeaten on the year at 6-0 in volleyball.

UCLA

The Bruins defeated Utah in their home opener, 31-10, to start the year at 1-0.

Third-ranked UCLA beat Long Beach State and San Diego State to improve to3-1 on the year in women's soccer.

UCLA, also ranked third in volleyball, defeated Colorado and Florida to remain unbeaten at 5-0 on the season. Middle blocker Nana Meriwether was named as the conference's player of the week.

Arizona State

The 25th-ranked Sun Devils defeated Northern Arizona, 35-14, in their home opener to open at 1-0. Receiver Jamaal Lewis was suspended indefinitely after his arrest on criminal speeding charges.

Arizona State lost to Florida State and tied St. Louis to move to 2-1-1 in women's soccer.

The Sun Devils lost to Purdue but defeated Auburn and Virginia Tech to move to 5-1 in volleyball.

USC

Third-ranked USC defeated Arkansas in their season opener, 50-14, to start at 1-0. Running back Michael Coleman will redshirt this season and safety Josh Pinkard is out for the year with a knee injury.

The 22nd-ranked Women of Troy defeated Harvard but lost to Notre Dame to fall to 2-1-1 in soccer.

The 10th-ranked Women of Troy beat Fresno State, Utah and Tennessee to remain undefeated at 6-0 in volleyball.

Stanford

The Cardinal lost to Oregon in their season opener and fell to 0-1 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

Stanford beat San Francisco and Cal Poly to improve to 2-2 in women's soccer. Senior midfielder Shari Summers was named as the conference's payer of the week.

The 8th-ranked Cardinal lost to BYU but defeated Virginia Commonwealth and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, to improve to 3-1 in volleyball.

Arizona

Arizona beat BYU, 16-13 in their home opener. Running back Derke Robinson transferred to Stephen F. Austin.

The Wildcats lost to Utah but defeated Utah State to move to 2-2 on the year in women's soccer.

The 21st-ranked Wildcats lost to Dayton but beat Tennessee Tech and Louisville to improve to 5-1 in volleyball.

Washington

The Huskies defeated San Jose State, 35-29, to open the season at 1-0.

Washington beat Rhode Island and lost to Wisconsin-Milwaukee to move to 3-1 in women's soccer.

Fifth-ranked Washington beat Davidson, Morehead State and Liberty to improve to 4-1 in volleyball.

Oregon

20th-ranked Oregon defeated Stanford, 48-10, to move to 1-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play. The Ducks also secured games with Colorado [2014 and 2017] and Georgia [2015 and 2016] on future schedules.

The Ducks lost to Loyola Marymount to remain winless at 0-3 in women's soccer.

Oregon defeated Cal State-Northridge and Utah State to remain undefeated at 4-0 in volleyball.

WSU

The Cougars lost to Auburn in their season opener, 40-14, to drop to 0-1. Defensive back Don Turner may be out for this week's game against Idaho with an injury.

Wazzu defeated Utah State but lost to Utah to move to 2-1-1 in women's soccer. Junior midfielder Shaye Harrel suffered a foot injury and could miss this week's games.

WSU beat Portland, UNLV and Boise State to improve to 7-1 in volleyball.
