It was Top 10 week at the Creek last week as every sport had a Pac-10 team in the Top 10 – led by volleyball with five conference squads populating the CSTV-AVCA poll.
Meanwhile at NCAA HQ, president Myles Brand set an 80% graduation success rate as a goal for all Division I student athletes.
Oregon State
The Beavers lost to Boise State, 42-14 to fall to 1-1 on the season.
In women's soccer, Oregon State defeated New Hampshire and Iona to improve to 4-1-1 on the year.
OSU beat San Diego State and Fresno State to improve to 3-5 in volleyball.
In women's hoop, guard Christen Myles withdrew from school.
UCLA
The Bruins defeated Rice, 26-16, to remain undefeated on the year at 2-0.
Third-ranked UCLA defeated Texas A&M and Connecticut to improve to 5-1 on the year in women's soccer. Junior forward Danesha Adams was named as the conference's player of the week.
The third-ranked Bruins defeated Texas State, Georgia, Denver and Towson to improve to remain undefeated on the year at 10-0 in volleyball.
WSU
The Cougars defeated Idaho in their home opener, 56-10, to improve to 1-1.
WSU lost to Nevada but defeated Sacramento State to move to 3-2-1 on the year in women's soccer. Freshman midfielder Mallory Fox tore an ACL in her knee and is out for the year.
Wazzu defeated Duquesne, Louisiana-Lafayette, Tulsa and Texas-Arlington to improve to 11-1 on the year in volleyball.
Washington
The Huskies lost to Oklahoma, 37-20, to drop to 1-1 on the year. Defensive lineman Jordan White-Frisbee was moved to the offensive line.
Washington lost to North Carolina but beat Baylor to move to 4-2 in women's soccer.
The Huskies defeated Portland State, Maryland-Baltimore County, North Dakota State and Gonzaga to improve to 8-1 in volleyball.
In women's hoop, Washington received a verbal commitment from guard Katelan Redmon.
Arizona
The Wildcats lost to LSU, 45-3, to drop to 1-1 on the year.
Arizona defeated Hawai'i and Gonzaga to improve to 4-2 in women's soccer.
The 24th-ranked Wildcats lost to Rice but defeated Bradley and Montana State to move to 7-2 in volleyball. Senior middle blocker Kristina Baum is out for the season with a knee injury.
In women's hoop, Jashell Mitchell was hired as an assistant coach.
California
The 21st-ranked Bears beat Minnesota, 42-17, to improve to 1-1 overall. Sophomore quarterback Nate Longshore was named the offensive player of the week.
16th-ranked California defeated Air Force and tied Vanderbilt to remain unbeaten on the year at 4-0-2 in women's soccer.
The 10th-ranked Bears remained undefeated with wins over Colorado State, American and Pepperdine to improve to 9-0 in volleyball.
Arizona State
The 22nd-ranked Sun Devils beat Nevada 52-21 to improve to 2-0.
Arizona State defeated Denver and Central Florida to improve to 4-1-1 in women's soccer.
The Sun Devils beat Michigan State but lost to Ohio State to move to 6-2 in volleyball.
Oregon
The 18th-ranked Ducks defeated Fresno State, 31-24, to improve to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play. Junior defensive back Jackie Bates is out for the season with a broken leg. Senior safety J.D. Nelson and senior kicker Paul Martinez were named as the conference's defensive and special teams players of the week, respectively.
Oregon defeated Iona and New Hampshire to improve to 2-3 in women's soccer.
The Ducks remained undefeated on the year at 7-0 with wins over Fresno State, San Diego State and Portland in volleyball.
In women's hoop, junior center Gabrielle Richards has left the program.
USC
The 4th-ranked Trojans had a bye but junior defensive lineman Sedrick Ellis may be out for three weeks with a knee injury.
The 20th-ranked Women of Troy defeated Drake and North Texas to improve to 4-1-1 in women's soccer.
USC remained unbeaten with wins over Florida State, South Carolina and St. John's to improve to 9-0 in volleyball.
Stanford
The Cardinal lost to San Jose State, 35-34, to drop to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in conference play. Senior receiver Marcus McCutcheon is out for a month with a knee injury.
29th-ranked Stanford defeated Rutgers and Long Island to improve to 4-2 in women's soccer.
The 7th-ranked Cardinal defeated Northwestern, Fairfield and Hawai'i to improve to 8-1 in volleyball. Sophomore outside hitter Cynthia Barboza was named as the conference's player of the week.
