Everything was on course at the Creek last week. There was no corruption of history at the Pac-10 Cross Country Championships as the Stanford men's and women's teams swept the conference championships for the 6th and 10th times, respectively.

Meanwhile, at NCAA HQ, academic incentives were proposed in order to give recognition for schools' academic successes. An initial package of $10 million, to be funded from the NCAA's television contract, will contain proposals that recognize both individual and team successes in the classroom.

Arizona State

The Sun Devils defeated Washington, 44-20, to move to 4-4 overall and 2-3 in conference play. Offensive lineman Stephen Berg is out for a month with a knee injury. Linebacker Nick Clapp is out for the season with a stress fracture in his back. Quarterback Rudy Carpenter was named as the conference's offensive player of the week.

Senior midfielder Manya Makoski was named as the conference's player of the week in women's soccer.

Washington

The Huskies lost to Arizona State, 44-20, to drop to 1-7 overall and remain winless in conference play at 0-5. Washington received a verbal commitment from JC defensive back [db]Jordan Murchison[/db].

UCLA

The 7th-ranked Bruins defeated Stanford, 30-27, to remain undefeated at 8-0 overall and 5-0 in conference play. Offensive lineman Mike McCloskey re-injured his shoulder and is not expected to play against Arizona.

Sophomore forward Kamani Hill was named as the conference's player of the week in men's soccer.

Oregon State

The Beavers lost to Arizona, 29-27, to drop to 4-4 overall and 2-3 in conference play. Fox Sports will televise the November 12 game against Stanford.

Women's rowing head coach Charlie Owen resigned, effective at the end of the 2005-06 season.

Arizona

The Wildcats defeated Oregon State, 29-27, to move to 2-6 overall and 1-4 in conference play. Junior safety Michael Johnson and junior kicker Nick Folk were named as the conference's players of the week for defense and special teams, respectively.

Senior outside hitter Kim Glass was named as the conference's player of the week in volleyball.

WSU

The Cougars lost to USC, 55-13, to fall to 3-5 overall and remain winless in conference play at 0-5.

The Cougars swept Oregon and Oregon State in soccer to move to 10-7-2 overall and 3-4-1 in conference play.

Wazzu was swept by Arizona and ASU in volleyball to drop to 8-16 overall and 1-10 in conference play.

Oregon

The Ducks are 7-1 overall [4-1 in conference play] and are ranked 15th in this week's BCS poll.

California

The Bears are 6-2 overall [3-2 in conference play] and are ranked 23rd in the latest BCS poll. The game against USC on November 12 will be televised by ABC at 12:30 p.m.

USC

The top-ranked Trojans defeated WSU, 55-13, to remain undefeated at 8-0 overall and 5-0 in conference play. Linebacker [db]Rey Maualaga[/db] was arrested on a charge of misdemeanor battery after punching a man at a party.

Stanford

The Cardinal lost to UCLA, 30-27, to drop to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in conference play. Receiver Mark Bradford is expected to miss this week's game with an ankle injury. Stanford received a verbal commitment from offensive lineman Andrew Phillips, who turned down Northwestern, Maryland, North Carolina and Duke. The Big Game against Stanford has been moved to 4 p.m. on November 19 and will be televised by ABC.

In volleyball, Stanford lost freshman Cynthia Barboza to a knee injury.
