Pickler In Second After Day One, Anderson In The Finals At USA Champs

Former Wazzu and Beijing Olympian heptathlete Diana Pickler was in second place after Day One in the heptathlon while current Cougar men's 400-meter hurdler and two-time NCAA champion Jeshua Anderson moved into the finals of the men's 400-meter hurdles at the USA Track & Field Championships in Eugene with a 48.89 qualifying time that was second-fastest in the semi-finals.
Pickler amassed 3768 points for second place behind leader Hyleas Fountain at 4038 points. Pickler began the day with a 13.43 100-meter hurdles to place fourth in that event, then followed it up with 1.81-meter 5-11.25] high jump, which was good for third place. Pickler recorded another third place in the shot put with a 13.49-meter [44-3.25] heave before faltering a bit with a sixth place showing in the 200 meters at 24.25.

Anderson, meanwhile, cruised into the men's 400-meter hurdles finals with a 48.89 performance running out of lane three and was second only to Bershawn Jackson. Anderson will be in his first-ever final at the USA Championships.
