The Telepathic Tabernacle - Week 12

It was only a matter of time before the Telepathic Tabernacle was back to early-season form and last week was a clear sign that the TeleTab is getting closer as a double-skunk was nearly pulled off. The Tab went a squeaky-clean 4-0 in the SU [Straight Up] Division and then followed that up with a 3-1 in the ATS [Against The Spread] as only a late fourth-quarter Wazzu interception return for a touchdown broke up the double skunk party – but you know the Tab will take that all the way to the bank. Meanwhile, the Gem of the Week a stayed on a resurgent roll as USC cleared their hurdle against California and moved the Tab to 7-4 on the year in Gems – ensuring that the Tab will finish no worse than .500 there for the year. For the other categories, the Tab improves the season numerals in the SU Division to 46-18 – good for 72% and a step closer to the 80% gold standard. The numerals in the ATS [Against The Spread] Division moved upward slightly with a 3-1 week to the overall percentage at 59% - still a paper cut under the 60% bar the Tab likes to set for the year.
Week 12 is a light week – only three games to scare the bejeebers out of the Tab – which all three of them do. All three are games the Tab would rather not touch with the proverbial 39.5-foot pole, but one of them has to be a Gem and that one is going to be the one the Tab would have foreseen as most unlikely candidate a week ago. But a week ago Washington quarterback wasn't knocked into next week like he was in the Oregon State game. Now with Locker doubtful – or at the very least, not 100% - the Tab is going to go with the Fightin' Tedfords to win and cover this game. Namesake Jeff Tedford is 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS against the Hussies and while the Hussies have no bowl game hopes, the Tedfords have a better bowl to play for with each win they can muster out of their underachieving team. Plus, if Carl Bonnell plays instead of Locker – that won't surprise the Tedfords because that is who they played against in last year's victory. They were on the wrong side of the Gem last week, but for all those reasons, the Tab selects California to be on the sunny side of the street this week and makes them the official Gem of the Week. The rest of this week's smarmy swigs of sweet patootie-ness….
