Wazzu Grounds Pilots

The Washington State University men's hoop team used a run in the first half and a run in the second half to put the University of Portland Pilots away, 83-73 behind a game-high 21 points from Faisal Aden in Portland. With the win, Wazzu improves to 2-1 overall on the year.
Wazzu broke open what had been a tight game with a 13-2 run midway through the first half to give the Cougars a 32-21 lead en route to a 43-33 lead they would take into the locker room at halftime.

Portland closed the Cougars' leading margin all the way down to six points at 47-41 but Wazzu answered with an 11-02 run that gave the Cougars enough cushion. From there, Wazzu was never seriously threatened and coasted in for the comfortable 10-point victory.
Three Cougars were in double figures in scoring, led by Aden with 21 and followed by Brock Motum with 13 and DaVonte Lacy with 11. Point guard Reggie Moore led Wazzu with six rebounds.
NOTES:
- Wazzu will play Oklahoma in the 76 Classic in Anaheim on Thanksgiving Day.
- Portland out-rebounded the Cougars, 41-28 for the game.
