Wazzu Shoots Down Warriors

The Washington State University Cougar men's hoop team got off to their expected fast start with an easy 89-49 exhibition victory over outmatched Lewis-Clark State at Beasley Coliseum in Pullman.

The Cougars were precise in their shooting as JC transfer Faisal Aden got his Cougar career off to a good start, firing off 13 shots and hitting nine of them [including four of six from beyond the arc] while dependable junior Klay Thompson had his usual high production game, going eight for 12 from the field, joining fellow junior DeAngelo Casto , who hit seven of eight from the field. For the game, Wazzu shot 60% as a team.

Wazzu was never threatened in the game as they took a 46-29 into the locker room at halftime and extended it with their hot shooting in the second half.

Wazzu had four players reaching double figures and was led in scoring by Aden with 22 points, followed by Thompson with 21, Casto with 18 and Brock Motum with 11. Thompson and true freshman Dre Winston, Jr. shared the rebounding lead with seven boards apiece.

Washington State University begins the regular season with a game against Southern University at 5PM on Saturday, November 13, at Beasley Coliseum in Pullman
