Wazzu Swats Away Pesky Hornets

The Washington State University men's hoop team were sluggish early on but eventually took control and Gdefeated the Sacramento State Hornets, 79-68 behind a career-high 23 points from Brock Motum at Beasley Coliseum in Pullman. With the win, Wazzu improves to 1-1 overall on the year.
Sacramento State opened with a 7-0 run and the Hornets built as much as a 13-point lead at 25-12 before the Cougars finally awakened from their offensive slumber and cut the lead back down to three at 39-36 going into the locker room at halftime.
The second half was all Wazzu as the Cougars took a mere two minutes into the half to tie the game at 41-all, then proceeded to gradually pull away from the Hornets the rest of the way on their way to a comfortable 11-point victory.
Three Cougars were in double figures in scoring, led by Motum with 23 and followed by Faisal Aden with 18 and DaVonte Lacy with 15. Motum also led Wazzu with eight rebounds.
