Wazzu Throttles Vandals

The Washington State University Cougar men's hoop team once again had four players in double digits in scoring and once again it was new Cougar Faisal Aden who led the Cougars in scoring as Wazzu recorded an easy 88-71 victory over Palouse neighbor Idaho at Beasley Coliseum in Pullman. With the win, Wazzu remains undefeated on the season at 2-0 overall.

Wazzu opened up with a big statement, bolting out to a 17-2 lead, but Idaho gradually fought back and closed to within 40-38 in the first half before the Cougars scored the final three points of the period to take a 43-38 lead into the locker room.

Wazzu made sure to quash any potential Idaho upset bid with a 15-0 run midway through the second half that produced a 64-47 lead and the Cougars cruised in from there for the final margin of victory.

Joining Aden in double figures were junior Klay Thompson with 23 points, fellow junior DeAngelo Casto with 10 points and true freshman Patrick Simon with a career-high 12 points. For the game, Wazzu shot 58% as a team.

Junior Abe Lodwick led the Cougars with five rebounds.

NOTES

- Sophomore point guard Reggie Moore did not play due to a wrist injury and continues to be out indefinitely.
