WR Isaiah Cobbs goes in-depth on his Wazzu commitment

Isaiah Cobbs had never been to Pullman, and yet as he arrived for his Washington State official visit over the weekend it felt familiar in a way.

"What surprised me is it felt exactly like [home]. I'm from Memphis and I go to school in Munford (Tennessee), and it really reminds me of Munford and I love Munford. That really surprised me. It's like the small-town type feel. I really love that," Cobbs told Wazzu Watch on Monday, shortly before announcing his commitment to the Cougars.

Yep, just a day after wrapping up his first visit to Washington State, Cobbs knew it was where he belonged.

He's the first WR commit in the Cougars' 2024 recruiting class and the fourth overall commit, joining DT Hyrum Moors, DE Jackson Cowgill and OL Carson Osmus, who also committed Monday.

"I really loved it. It felt just like home. I felt like they really made me feel like I was wanted there. They gave me a lot of reasons to come there. They gave me all pros, no cons. It was really great," Cobbs said. "... They did a really good job. It was amazing. I didn't have any doubts on committing. I was ready. As soon as that trip was over, I was locked in."

Washington State watched Cobbs and his Munford HS team go through a workout several months back, and offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle later reached out to the 5-foot-10, 163-pound receiver to formally start recruiting him.

That led to the visit last weekend and the commitment, but aside from football factors, there was more to the equation in sealing the deal with Cobbs.

"What really caught my eye and what really made me want to make this decision was the academics," he said. "I know if I go there I'm going to have a lot of help with my academics and I know they're going to make sure I'm on where I need to be on at all times."
